COACHING: A SMALL PRACTICE
In my discipline, training is racing. The game is a racing simulator: to play is to race.

DAYS TO FIRST WIN
THE SHAPE OF IT
01
I do not coach fitness. Fitness is what falls out of learning to win. What I coach is the race itself: strategy, willingness, the honest review afterward.
02
I race alongside my athletes, direct their races live, and communicate constantly. There is no formula. The work is personal, the relationship is mutual, and the best ones leave me better than I started.
03
My method is finding what's responding in each athlete and following it until it's played out, then finding the next thread. Success reveals itself.
“To beat the best, you need to out-prepare as well as outperform. That in a nutshell is why we brought in Holden.”
Patrick McCarty, Men's Team Director, Rally Cycling
